About the role

Our compliance team is the second team customers meet (after sales) and the team they keep working with for years. This role is for someone who already knows what an FTZ Operator Bond looks like, what 19 CFR 146 actually says, and what auditors care about.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You will own customer outcomes, not tickets.

What you'll do

  • Lead activation for new FTZ customers: bond setup, operator agreements, ACE configuration, week-one production filings.
  • Be the named compliance contact for a portfolio of 6–10 enterprise customers. Quarterly reviews, audit prep, regulatory updates.
  • Write and review weekly estimated entries (7501s) for the most complex customer accounts. Catch the things software can't.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product to translate regulatory changes into product behavior. When CBP updates a rule, you write the spec.
  • Build the audit playbooks our customers use. Every customer gets a written, defensible process before their first CF-28.
  • Train the rest of the compliance team. The senior people on this team teach. It's not optional.

What you bring

  • 5+ years in trade compliance with a meaningful FTZ component. You have personally activated or operated at least one zone.
  • Working knowledge of 19 CFR Parts 141, 142, and 146. You don't have to recite it but you have to find it fast.
  • Direct experience with ACE Portal and the entry summary lifecycle. You've filed real 7501s, not just reviewed them.
  • Comfort working with engineers. You will be the regulator in the room when product decisions are made. Diplomatic, specific, decisive.
  • Excellent written communication. Half of this job is making complex regulation legible to people who don't live in it.

Bonus

  • Licensed Customs Broker (CHB).
  • Experience with apparel, footwear, or consumer electronics tariff classification.
  • Prior CBP, FTZ Board, or major broker experience.
  • You have opinions about First Sale that are not boring.

How we hire

Four conversations, all with people you'd actually work with. (1) Recruiter intro, 30 minutes. (2) Hiring manager (VP Compliance), 60 minutes. (3) Case study: we send you a redacted real-world reconciliation problem to walk through with two compliance teammates. (4) Founder conversation, 45 minutes.

From first conversation to offer: typically 2–3 weeks. We do not run multi-month gauntlets.
